How to Vote from Abroad Guatemala
Did you know that 93% of Guatemalans living outside the country live in the United States? In 2019, it was the first time that the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) organized the voting process in the United States.
Voting took place on June 16, 2019 in Los Angeles, Houston, New York and Silver Spring.
To vote abroad you only need to have: your valid DPI, having registered and updated your data in time from the website below.
You also have the option to update your data using the “Voto por Guate” app. Using this button you will have the opportunity to download it and then go to a voting booth.

Possible Candidates for the Presidency of Guatemala
The candidates who made it to the second round of the presidential elections were: Bernardo Arévalo of the Semilla Movement party and Sandra Torres of the National Unity of Hope party, both social democrats.
So far, the favorites for the next election have not been declared.
Guatemala elections 2023 polls
Guatemala’s 2023 presidential polls for the second round showed that Bernardo Arévalo had 61% of preferences against 39% for Sandra Torres in terms of valid votes.
However, in the first round on June 25, Torres obtained 15.86% and Arévalo 11.77% according to official data.
Ultimately, Arévalo was the winner and replaced Alejandro Giammattei in January 2024.
When are the elections in Guatemala?
The last general elections in Guatemala were held on June 25, 2023, in which the president, vice president, congressmen, mayors and municipal councilors were elected. General elections are held every four years, so the next election will be in 2027.
Requirements for Voting Abroad
To cast your vote abroad you must meet the following requirements:
- Be of legal age and be registered as a Guatemalan citizen
- Having registered or updated your address abroad more than 120 days in advance
- Have your DPI valid
