If you are in Houston and need to renew your Guatemalan passport or get it for the first time, here is how to do it step by step, whether you are traveling around the world or just want to keep your documents up to date.

Steps to obtain a passport

To get your first passport and if you have already crossed the 18-year mark, this is what you will need:

  1. Put it together with your original DPI, or if you don’t have one, put it together with your original birth certificate and the CUI number correctly written.
  2. Drop $65 at the consulate.

If the passport is for a minor :

  1. Be accompanied by your supervisors, who must bring their original DPI, or, if not, their original birth certificate with the CUI number up to date.
  2. The minor’s original and recent birth certificate is also required, clearly showing his or her CUI number.
  3. Make the payment of $65 dollars at the consulate.

Requirements for processing a passport

For those of legal age :

  • Original DPI or original and current birth certificate with CUI number.
  • The $65 payment at the consulate.

And for the kids :

  • Original DPI of both parents or their original and updated birth certificates with CUI number.
  • Original and recent birth certificate of the minor with CUI number.
  • The same $65 dollars for the procedure at the consulate.
