The requirements to obtain a non-immigrant American Visa in Guatemala are:

  • Printed confirmation sheet of the Visa application, i.e. Form DS-160.
  • Passport with at least 6 months of validity.
  • Proof of visa payment.
  • Digital photograph that you will upload on Form DS-160.
  • Work letter (American work visa).
  • Invitation letter for students (For student visa).

Immigrant Visa

If you are applying for an immigrant visa issued to people who wish to live and work in the United States permanently, you must fill out a specific form according to the type of visa you are applying for, which can be found on the Citizenship and Immigration Service website.

Application for an American Visa in Guatemala

To apply for a nonimmigrant American visa as a Guatemalan, you must go to the official website of the Consular Electronic Application Center of the United States Department of State and fill out the DS-160 form.

Fill out this online form with all your personal information, specifying what type of visa you are applying for. You must have your passport and the dates of your previous trips to the United States on hand as part of completing the application.

It is important that you save and print the PDF confirmation that is given to you when you complete the application with Form DS-160, since you will submit it on the day of your consular appointment. You will need to upload a digital photo while you fill out this form, just follow the instructions.

The next step is to make the payment for the visa. To do this, the applicant must register on this portal. Follow the steps and select the bank where you want to pay, for example, Banrural. Print the form to make the payment and go to the bank to make the deposit in national currency. Keep the payment receipt. Confirm your payment and make an appointment by selecting the date that suits you.

Remember that you have up to 365 days to make an appointment for an American visa after making the payment at the bank.
