What is the CUI in Guatemala?

Each country has an identification code for its citizens. In this post I explain what you should know about the CUI, Unique Identification Code, of Guatemalans; I tell you how to know or identify a person’s CUI, where to find it on the birth certificate and how to request it.

What is the Unique Identification Code (CUI)?

The CUI or Unique Identification Code is a number that the National Registry of Persons (RENAP) assigns when a birth is registered. It is a unique, personal and non-transferable number. It does not change throughout life, it remains the same.

How to know the CUI of a person in Guatemala

The following are the ways in which the CUI of a minor can be requested and reviewed :

  • Any RENAP office at the national level is processing a birth certificate or if you have the birth certificate, check the “Registrant Data” section.
  • Entering the citizen portal.
  • Entering the electronic services portal.
  • From the RENAP App for Android.

To check the CUI on any of the platforms, it is necessary to know basic information such as name and date of birth.

What is the CUI Number on the Guatemala Birth Certificate?

The CUI is located on the birth certificate at the bottom of the “Registrant Data” section. It consists of 13 digits.

People identify the CUI as the DPI number although the official name is CUI.
