How to make an appointment for a Guatemalan passport at the consulate
Go to the official website provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Then, select the consulate closest to your current address, and choose the service you wish to manage, in this case the passport.
Once you are inside the appointment system, you will need to enter your email address to receive a special code in order to continue the process. Just follow the instructions given on the website.
Renew Guatemalan Passport
To renew a passport, Guatemalans must go to their local consulate with the corresponding requirements, as advised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It should be noted that the passport is valid for 5 years.
Requirements for a Guatemalan passport in the USA
When processing your Passport, you must take into account these requirements :
For adults:
- Personal Identification Document (DPI). If you do not have a DPI, you will have to show your original birth certificate with the recent Unique Identification Code (CUI) number.
- Pay $65 for passports valid for 5 years, and $100 for passports valid for 10 years. (Payment is made at the consulate where the application is processed).
- If you wish to renew your immigration document, you must have an expired passport.
For minors:
- Parents must provide the original DPI. If they do not have it, they must bring birth certificates with CUI number.
- Birth certificate of the minor with CUI number.
- Pay $65.
- Surrender the expired passport in case of renewal.

No traveler can enter Guatemala without a passport. In the case of people coming from countries classified as C, they must apply for a tourist visa.
